Today’s blog post in the Suitcase Entrepreneur’s 30 Day Blog Challenge was entitled ‘How to build a blog that matters and monetize it with Jaime Tardy’. There was a link to the Suitcase Entrepreneur’s podcast to listen to which you can find here. Natalie Sission who is the author of the Suitcase Entrepreneur book releases her podcast bi-weekly on a Monday and this week she was speaking to Entrepreneur Jaime Tardy who is the owner of the ‘Eventual Millionaire‘ blog.
Among the many great tips and learnings I gained from that half hour podcast, I picked up Two key ways to monetize your blog based on a Millionaire’s mindset and they are as follows :
- Provide a service as opposed to a digital product. Obviously it takes a lot longer to do all the work for a digital product, drafting it all out and pulling it together and then having to get it into a presentable format, and that’s not to mention the marketing that needs to be done for it. Whereas, when you offer a service based product such as coaching or something similar, you don’t need to do any work at the outset, can simply market yourself for what you can provide and then only once you’ve gained the paying client are you required to go ahead and complete the work. Although this is an easier model to choose to start out with, in the long term it does not provide you the residual income benefits of a digital product. In the short term though, it will provide you with quick and easy cashflow directed straight into your business.
- The second tip I gained from this podcast was the idea of ‘Continuous forward motion’, Jamie talked about Success being a process and that it’s about moving in very small increments. It’s important to keep moving forward without stopping even if it’s by just taking one small step every single day. So to intertwine this with monetizing your blog, my idea here is to take one small step each day towards the creation of my next digital product which will sit on my blog for sale.
So when you put these two ideas together, you’ll have a service based product available on your blog to generate some immediate income to inject straight into your cashflow plus you’ll be taking small daily steps towards creating a digital product that will give you the long term residual income benefits that you desire.
